Rose Leaf and Apple Leaf

Published in 1889, 'Rose Leaf and Apple Leaf' is a collection of poems by Rennell Rodd that reflects the aesthetic movement of the late 19th century. Accompanied by an introduction from Oscar Wilde, the poems explore themes of beauty, melancholy, and the emotional depth of life, often juxtaposing joy and sorrow. Rodd's work features classical imagery and natural beauty, with notable pieces like 'The Sea-King's Grave' and 'In a Church' capturing the subtleties of love and loss. This collection exemplifies the lyrical beauty and contemplative spirit of its time, contributing to the English Renaissance in poetry.
