Revised Edition of Poems

A treasure trove of Yorkshire dialect verse, this revised collection gathers three decades of Bill o'th' Hoylus End's poetic musings from the late Victorian era. The poems sing with the rhythms of ordinary life in rural Yorkshire: love and loss, the turning seasons, and the characters who populated the author's world. Standout pieces celebrate the 'Grand Old Man of Oakworth' and other local figures, rendering their stories in warm, accessible dialect that breathes life into a world now vanished. The collection opens with a humble dedication to the poet's patrons and neighbors, setting a tone of sincere gratitude and community connection. These are not lofty verses meant for academic contemplation but rather songs born from the pub, the hearth, and the open moor, written for neighbors who would speak them aloud. For readers seeking an authentic voice from England's literary margins, this collection offers a rare window into working-class Victorian life as lived and loved in the hills of Yorkshire.
