Poèmes Et Dessins De La Fille Née Sans Mère: 18 Dessins, 51 Poèmes

Created in the chaos of 1918, when Europe was still reeling from the Great War's slaughter, this collection is Francis Picabia's defiant howl into the void. The girl born without a mother: an impossible figure, emerging from nothing, belonging nowhere. This is Dada in its most raw and personal form - not the movement's more famous manifestos, but its private poetry and sketching. Fifty-one poems and eighteen drawings spiral through absence, desire, and the rubble of everything that was supposed to mean something. Picabia was done with beauty. Done with reason. Done with the civilization that had built the trenches. What remains is language stripped to its bones and images that reject easy reading. This is not a book you finish. It's a book that finishes something in you.
