Our Monthly Devotions

A 19th-century Catholic devotional that structures the entire year as a journey through the life of Christ. Each month receives its own theme: January contemplate the Holy Infancy of Jesus, with meditations on the virtues of childlike faith, humility, and mercy embodied in the infant Savior. Subsequent months unfold the narrative of redemption, moving through the mysteries of Mary's life, Christ's public ministry, Passion, and resurrection. The book provides daily prayers and reflections intended not as occasional devotions but as sustained spiritual practice, cultivating attentiveness to God's presence throughout the liturgical cycle. Lings writes for readers seeking to transform abstract faith into lived discipline, offering concrete words for morning and evening prayer. Though rooted in Victorian Catholicism, the book speaks to anyone drawn to historical spirituality and the slower rhythms of daily contemplative reading.
