Our Little Grecian Cousin

In the sun-drenched hills of Thessaly, young Zoe tends her baby cousin Domna, a quiet child whose cradle bears the traditional cross for luck. Orphaned and far from the lemon-groved home she once knew, Zoe has found refuge with her aunt and uncle, spending her days caring for one child after another. Yet even as her hands are full with the work of raising her cousins, her heart is full of dreams - rose-colored hopes for a future that might hold more than responsibility and memory. Through the rhythm of daily life in a Grecian village, Nixon-Roulet weaves a tender portrait of a girl finding beauty in small rituals: the hanging of the Marti on a dew-kissed rose bush, the red ribbon bound against freckles and wind, the simple magic that turns ordinary mornings into acts of love. This is a book about the resilience hidden in quiet devotion, and the ways a child can create happiness for others even while yearning for her own.
