Our Journey to Sinai

Our Journey to Sinai, written by Agnes von Blomberg Bensly in the 1890s, recounts a visit by British scholars to Saint Catherine's monastery on the Sinai Peninsula. The group, led by linguist Agnes Smith Lewis, sought a rare second-century Syriac translation of the Gospels. The narrative details their adventurous journey through Cairo and the desert, their interactions with monks, and the discovery of ancient manuscripts, providing insights into both biblical scholarship and the rich history of the monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
