Ortus Christi: Meditations for Advent

In an age of noise and distraction, this collection of Advent meditations offers something rare: the invitation to still the soul and prepare for the coming of Christ with intention and reverent expectation. Written in 1927 by Mother St. Paul, these reflections trace the spiritual landscape of Advent as a period of active waiting, of longing that both remembers Christ's first coming and anticipates his return. The meditations center on what the author calls the 'Rising of Christ', not merely the Nativity, but the awakening of the divine within the human soul. Through quiet, incisive prose, Mother St. Paul invites readers to examine their lives, to recognize the transformative power of grace, and to understand themselves as potential dwelling places for the Divine. This is not devotional reading for the faint of heart. It demands honest self-reflection and a willingness to be changed. For those seeking authentic spiritual depth during Advent, or any time of year, this century-old text speaks with startling immediacy to the modern longing for meaning and transcendence.
