Notes D'un Voyage En Corse

''Notes d'un voyage en Corse'' is an archaeological travelogue by Prosper Mérimée, first published in 1840. The work surveys Corsica's ancient and medieval monuments, combining field observations with historical sketches and hypotheses about their origins. It serves as a report by France's inspector of historic monuments, documenting prehistoric megaliths, Roman remains, and medieval churches while exploring how poverty, invasions, and geography influenced the island's architecture. This book is notable for its detailed classification of Corsican monuments and its insights into the island's historical context.
