Music and Life: A study of the relations between ourselves and music

Written in the early 20th century by Thomas Whitney Surette, 'Music and Life' examines the profound relationships between humans and music. The book discusses music's characteristics, its educational significance, particularly for children, and the societal role of communal singing. Surette advocates for active participation in music-making to cultivate a deeper appreciation and understanding of the art, arguing that music serves as a vital medium for experiencing beauty and expression beyond mere entertainment.
