Multilingual Poetry Collection 007
This is poetry heard in its native tongue. Volunteers from across the globe share poems they love, reading in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and other languages. There's something irreplaceable about hearing a poem in the language it was written for, the sounds, the rhythms, the way meaning lives in the mouth of the speaker. These aren't polished studio recordings. They're intimate, personal acts of love. A grandmother reads a childhood favorite in Portuguese. A young man shares a Soviet-era Russian poem that shaped him. Each reader brings their own relationship to the words, their own accent, their own pace. For anyone curious about world poetry, or anyone who has ever loved a poem in a language they don't speak, this collection offers the next best thing to understanding: the music of being moved by something you can only partly grasp.
