Mansion of Mystery
The Langmore mansion holds its secrets close. When Mr. and Mrs. Langmore are found murdered within its walls one morning, all evidence points to their daughter Margaret, who was the only other person home. The blood is on her hands, the circumstantial evidence is damning, and the police want their arrest. But Margaret's fiancé Raymond Case refuses to believe she could commit such an act, and he hires the brilliant detective Adam Adams to find the truth. What follows is a race against time and prejudice. Adams must unravel a web of secrets in a house where everyone has something to hide, where the locked-room puzzle seems impossible, and where a woman's life hangs in the balance. The detective finds clues in the smallest details: a half-burned letter, a discrepancy in testimony, the placement of a chair. Every corner of the mansion whispers guilt, but of whom? This is early detective fiction at its most satisfying, a puzzle box where intelligence and patience are the only weapons against injustice.
