Love's Final Victory: Ultimate Universal Salvation on the Basis of Scripture and Reason

What if hell is empty? Not a provocation, but a sincere question posed by an orthodox minister willing to challenge two millennia of Christian doctrine. Horatio builds his case with meticulous attention to scripture and reason, mounting a passionate defense of universal salvation - the belief that divine love will ultimately redeem every human soul. The book opens with a frank survey of the competing theories: eternal conscious torment, annihilation, and restoration. Horatio finds both traditional hell and annihilationism incompatible with a genuinely loving God. He traces his own journey away from fear-based theology toward hope, engaging with biblical interpretation, theological logic, and the problem of evil along the way. His argument is compassionate but rigorous, seeking not to undermine Christianity but to fulfill its deepest promise. Written in the late 19th century, this treatise speaks to readers who have ever questioned whether punishment without end squares with justice, or whether a loving God could eternally abandon any soul. It remains vital for anyone interested in the history of Christian thought, theodicy, or the struggle to reconcile faith with reason.
