Lo Catalanisme: Motius Que'l Llegitiman. Fonaments Cientifichs Y Solucions Practicas

''Lo catalanisme: Motius que'l llegitiman. Fonaments cientifichs y solucions pràctiques'' by Valentí Almirall is a socio-political treatise written in the late 19th century. The text presents a detailed examination of Catalan regionalism, delving into the reasons behind the movement and advocating for its scientific foundations and practical solutions to what Almirall perceives as the Catalan nation's predicament within Spain. At the start of the work, Almirall outlines the current state of the Spanish nation and critiques its institutions, highlighting the societal issues that hinder progress. He argues that Catalan regionalism must evolve from mere sentiment to a conviction supported by scientific reasoning, suggesting that the collapse of literary and historical ties with Castilian culture could invigorate both Catalonia and Spain as a whole. The opening also emphasizes the importance of articulating specific grievances, positing that an understanding of their societal decay will pave the way for the Catalan renaissance. Almirall sets the tone for an impassioned call to action, urging Catalans to reject negative ideologies and embrace a more positive, scientifically informed identity in their quest for autonomy and respect within the broader Spanish context.
