La Réunion, a French Settlement in Texas

La Réunion, a French Settlement in Texas, is a historical account by William Jackson Hammond, published in the late 20th century. The book details the establishment of La Réunion, a Utopian socialist colony founded by French socialists influenced by Charles Fourier's teachings in the 19th century. It explores the philosophical and economic ideologies of the founders, particularly Victor Prosper Considerant, as they sought to create a society based on cooperation and equality. The work also examines the challenges they faced from local Texans and the complexities of their ambitious social experiment.
