Lāčplēsis
Lāčplēsis is an epic poem by Latvian poet Andrejs Pumpurs, written between 1872 and 1887. It tells the story of the legendary hero Lāčplēsis, whose name means 'Bear-slayer,' as he battles against evil forces, including a witch and treacherous foes, while seeking to protect his people and reunite with his love, Laimdota. Regarded as the Latvian national epic, it draws on local legends and explores themes of heroism, love, and cultural identity.
