Jill's Red Bag
Jill's red bag contains everything a girl could treasure: ribbons, trinkets, a world in miniature. But when Jill, her brother Jack, and their little sister Bumps - three proper pickles, as their long-suffering guardians know too well - the bag often gets left behind in the chaos of yet another disastrous day. The children are wild, ungovernable, running rings around everyone who tries to bring them to heel. Their older sister finally takes action and hires a governess, one who has a rather unusual destination in mind: the Golden City, where the streets themselves are said to be made of something precious. What follows is a most peculiar journey - one that will test just what's truly valuable to a girl who thought her red bag held everything that mattered. Amy Le Feuvre tells this tale with the gentle humor and warmth of a Victorian fireside, crafting a story about the chaos of childhood and the even stranger path toward something better.
