Is the Vicar of Brompton a Tractarian? a Question for the Parishioners
1934
Published in 1934, 'Is the Vicar of Brompton a Tractarian? A Question for the Parishioners' by Arthur Ellis is a religious pamphlet that critiques the influence of Tractarianism within the Church of England. Through a series of letters addressed to Reverend Dr. Irons, Ellis argues that the Vicar's actions and associations contradict his claims of detachment from Tractarian beliefs, which are perceived as leaning towards Roman Catholicism. The work serves as a warning to parishioners about the potential infiltration of Catholic doctrine into their church, highlighting the theological tensions of the era.
