Ion
Ion is a drama written by Sir Thomas Noon Talfourd, a Victorian lawyer and friend of Charles Dickens, first performed in 1836. Set in Ancient Greece, the play follows the tragic story of Ion, a young nobleman. Initially published as poetry, it gained popularity after a successful production by William Macready and was later revived with notable actresses like Ellen Terry in the lead role. Talfourd's contributions to copyright legislation further highlight his significance in literary history.
