Here and Now Story Booktwo- to Seven-Year-Olds

A collection of experimental stories aimed at young children, written in the early 20th century. This work originates from the author's dissatisfaction with existing children's literature and focuses on what is familiar and relevant to children aged two to seven. The stories are designed to encourage children's creativity and engagement through simple, relatable content that resonates with their experiences and encourages them to express themselves. At the start of the book, the author sets the stage by discussing the importance of creating literature that aligns with children's immediate experiences and their natural curiosity. She emphasizes that the stories are constructed from children's own suggestions and that they need to be engaging yet simple enough for young minds to grasp. The beginning includes forewords and an introduction outlining the educational philosophy behind the stories, suggesting that children think more through their sensory experiences and movements rather than abstract concepts. It serves as a precursor to the included stories, which commence with relatable themes such as daily routines and familiar environments, aiming to resonate deeply with children’s perspectives.
