Fun and Nonsense

Here is a world where whitewash brushes lament their unruly hair and barbers dream of peppermint poles. Willard Bonte's "Fun and Nonsense" collects playful verses that treat everyday objects as if they have lives, feelings, and very specific grievances. These are brief, bouncy poems built on puns and absurd scenarios - the kind of wordplay that makes you groan and grin at the same time. Bonte writes with a light touch, letting his colorful characters stumble through silly situations that spark imagination without ever tipping into darkness. There's something deeply joyful in watching a comb complain about tangles or a hat admit it's seen better days. These aren't sophisticated verses meant to be dissected in a classroom - they're small, silly gifts meant to be enjoyed between other activities, perfect for reading aloud to children or revisiting alone when the world feels too serious. For anyone who believes that laughter and nonsense are essential arts, this collection offers exactly what its title promises.
