Finnish Legends
A storm rages outside a remote Finnish cabin. Inside, firelight flickers as Father Mikko begins to speak, and the walls of the little house dissolve into something older: the primordial forests, frozen lakes, and endless nights where the gods still walk. This is how these stories were meant to be heard, passed down through generations until they became the soul of a nation. Eivind collected these legends from the oral traditions of Finland, preserving myths that predate written history: the epic heroes of the Kalevala, the spirits that haunt every lake and forest, the creation stories of a people who learned to survive in one of the harshest lands on earth. These are not gentle tales. They crackle with raw elemental power, with cunning and cruelty and wonder in equal measure. They are the old stories, wild and unrepentant, and they still have the power to make the modern reader feel like a child listening in the dark.
