Exploration of the Valley of the Amazon, Part 2 (of 2)

Published in the mid-19th century, 'Exploration of the Valley of the Amazon, Part 2' is a detailed account of the expedition led by Lieutenants William Lewis Herndon and Lardner Gibbon through the Amazon River Valley. The journey, which began in May 1851 and covered over 4,366 miles, explores the diverse landscapes, indigenous cultures, and natural resources of Peru, Brazil, and Bolivia. Notably, the report was so significant that it prompted the U.S. Senate to order additional copies for distribution, marking it as a pivotal work in the documentation of Amazonian exploration.
