England, Canada and the Great War

Published in 1918, 'England, Canada and the Great War' by L. G. Desjardins is a historical account of Canada's role in World War I. The author, a Lieutenant-Colonel and former politician, defends the Allied cause and emphasizes loyalty to the British Empire while critiquing nationalist sentiments that opposed the war. Desjardins aims to persuade French Canadians of their duty to support the war effort, framing it as a fight for civilization against tyranny. This work serves as both a historical document and a reflection of the political climate in Canada during the war.
