Encyclopaedia Britannica, 11th Edition, Volume 5, Appendix: Author List

This is the author appendix to the legendary 11th Edition of Encyclopaedia Britannica, the 1910-1911 masterwork that remains the most celebrated edition in the encyclopedia's 250-year history. Here you will find the names and credentials of over 700 contributors who shaped what was then the most authoritative English-language reference work in the world. These are the scholars, scientists, and specialists who wrote the entries that educated generations of readers, from the arcane corners of medieval philosophy to the cutting-edge discoveries of early 20th-century physics. Reading this appendix is like discovering the membership roll of the Edwardian intellectual establishment, a rosters of Oxford dons, Edinburgh savants, and Cambridge polymaths who collectively defined what educated people were expected to know. For historians of ideas, book collectors, and anyone curious about how knowledge was once organized and权威, this list offers a fascinating snapshot of early 20th-century scholarly authority.
