Early explorations in New South Wales: A collection
Early Explorations in New South Wales, authored by Richard Hind Cambage, chronicles the expeditions led by John Wilson and John Price in 1798. Commissioned by Governor John Hunter to investigate rumors of another colony beyond the Blue Mountains, the party faced numerous challenges as they ventured into the Australian interior. The diaries of John Price, the only literate member of the group, provide a detailed account of their journeys, which were later published in 1895. Cambage's work highlights the significance of these early explorations and corrects historical misconceptions about the first crossings of the Blue Mountains.
