Dorothy Dale's Great Secret

Dorothy Dale has a secret, and it's eating her alive. Instead of enjoying the freedom of summer break after her first term at Glenwood School, she carries her worry everywhere, unable to share it even with her dearest friend Tavia. The two girls are opposites drawn together: Dorothy steady and watchful, Tavia bright and impulsive. When they're not navigating the small dramas of boarding school life, they're racing around in Dorothy's aunt's automobile, chasing the kind of adventures that feel both thrilling and dangerous. But Dorothy's secret shadow looms over every moment of joy. As the weeks slip by, she must find the courage to face whatever she's hiding from before the new term begins. There's something quietly compelling about this early 1900s girls' school story: the intimate world of dormitories and best friends, the freedom of open roads and forbidden fun, and the particular weight of a secret kept from the one person you trust most. For readers who crave nostalgic adventure with genuine emotional stakes.
