Beneath the placid surface of Dymchurch-under-the-wall, a seemingly sleepy fishing village, lurks a dangerous secret. When a King's frigate docks, its captain determined to root out the rampant smuggling plaguing the coast, the unassuming Vicar Doctor Syn, his loyal sexton Mipps, and the eccentric villagers find their quiet lives irrevocably disrupted.
