Dew Drops, Vol. 37, No. 08, February 22, 1914

A time capsule of American childhood from February 1914. This issue of Dew Drops, a weekly publication beloved by young readers a century ago, gathers stories, verses, and lessons designed to shape character and spark imagination. Within these pages, children encountered tales of gratitude and generosity, poetry about nature and wonder, and gentle instruction in manners and moral living. Miss Lee gathers her students to teach the value of thankfulness. A girl named Emma learns to appreciate her toys despite rainy days. These small, intimate narratives reveal what mattered to children and families over a hundred years ago: kindness, humility, and the quiet rewards of goodness. For readers curious about how earlier generations understood childhood and virtue, this periodical offers something rare: an authentic voice from the past, speaking directly to its young audience without irony or distance.
