Decorative Art of Indian Tribes of Connecticut

Published in 1915, 'Decorative Art of Indian Tribes of Connecticut' by Frank G. Speck is an anthropological study that examines the artistic practices of the Mohegan and Niantic tribes. The book focuses on their basketry techniques, decorative motifs, and the cultural significance of these art forms. It details the materials and methods used in basket-making, including the preparation of brown ash and white oak, as well as painting techniques for embellishing baskets. This work preserves the rich heritage of Connecticut's Indigenous peoples and contributes to the understanding of Native American art.
