David Harum

In Edward Noyes Westcott's posthumously published sensation, a young man named John Lenox, reeling from a string of personal losses and a budding romance cut short, finds himself exiled to a quaint upstate New York village. There, he enters the orbit of David Harum, a country banker whose shrewd financial dealings are matched only by his legendary horse-trading prowess and his uniquely homespun philosophy on life. Harum, a character of singular charm and wit, takes John under his wing, imparting a series of folksy, often humorous, lessons that challenge John's assumptions about ambition, integrity, and the true measure of a man. It's a journey from urban sophistication to rural wisdom, steeped in the rhythms of turn-of-the-century Americana.
