Curiosidades Antiguas Sevillanas(serie Segunda)

In this second volume of his monumental study, José Gestoso y Pérez turns his meticulous gaze to the ancient industries that defined Seville, beginning with the craft of silk weaving. Written across twenty-five years of dedicated research, the book captures traditions passed down through centuries of Muslim influence, preserving knowledge that might otherwise vanish into the/archive. Gestoso y Pérez writes with the urgency of a man who sees his city transforming and fears the loss of its soul. This isn't dry historiography; it's a love letter to Seville, threaded with specific guild records, forgotten techniques, and the particular pride of craftsmen who once made the city renowned across Europe. The prose carries a wistful authority, blending archaeological precision with genuine affection for a world that was already slipping away in 1910. For anyone fascinated by the hidden histories of cities, by the way trade routes carried not just goods but entire cosmologies of making, this remains an essential document.
