Companion to the Bible

Companion to the Bible, written by E. P. Barrows and first published in 1869, is a scholarly reference work aimed at teachers, ministers, and laypeople seeking to deepen their understanding of the Scriptures. The book emphasizes the historical context and interpretation of both the Old and New Testaments, presenting the Bible as a cohesive narrative rather than isolated texts. Barrows outlines the importance of approaching biblical interpretation with an awareness of spiritual and moral obligations, empowering readers to defend their faith through informed understanding of scriptural evidence.
