Christmas for Tad: A Story of Mary and Abraham Lincoln

December 1863. The Civil War grinds on, and the White House glows with the weight of a nation divided. But for eleven-year-old Tad Lincoln, Christmas still means wonder, and his father, exhausted from the burdens of presidency, is determined to give his youngest son the holiday he deserves. This tender historical tale captures one of America's most beloved presidents not as a monument, but as a father caught between the salvation of a country and the simple happiness of his child. As Tad navigates the strange, solemn halls of wartime Washington, the story reveals how moments of ordinary childhood magic persisted even in extraordinary darkness. Miller writes with quiet grace about the humanity behind the history, showing that the Lincolns were not just figures in a textbook but a family who found joy and sorrow in the same rooms where the future of a nation was decided.
