Charlie and His Puppy Bingo

This is a charming portrait of childhood wonder from 1923. On his fifth birthday, Charlie receives the gift every child dreams of: a puppy named Bingo. The story follows their first days together, the tentative moments of meeting, the joy of discovery, the small adventures that feel enormous through a child's eyes. The book captures something universal: that piercing excitement of a new friendship, whether between a boy and his dog, or simply between a child and the world. The prose moves at a child's own rhythm, with short sentences and direct emotions. Parents will recognize the tenderness of watching a child fall in love. Children will see their own desires reflected back, the birthday morning magic, the permission to love something furry and alive and entirely their own. Nearly a century old, this book endures because it understands that some feelings don't change. The love between a child and their first pet remains one of life's purest joys.
