Challenge

Challenge
Challenge is a collection of poignant sonnets by John William Streets, written during World War I while he served in the trenches. Composed as a reflection of his own feelings and those of fellow soldiers facing the grim realities of war, the poems capture thoughts on life, death, and the emotional turmoil of combat. Streets, who was killed in action on July 1, 1916, aimed to convey the soldiers' experiences and emotions in the face of impending mortality, making this work a significant testament to the soldier's perspective in wartime literature.
