Ward, Mary Augusta Arnold: 1851-1920. Prolific English writer; wrote as Mrs Humphry Ward ( Who was who , 1916-1928). // Sterner, Albert: 1863-1946. Born in London; studied at Birmingham Art Institute and in Germany; moved to Chicago; established a studio in New York, 1885; illustrated magazines, including Harper's , Scribner's , Century , and Collier's ; studied and lived in Paris; returned to New York, 1918; taught at Art Student's League. // Fiction inspired by Ward's trip across Canada in 1908.
