Calvin Morgan Mcclung Historical Collection: Of Books, Pamphlets, Manuscripts, Pictures and Maps Relating to Early Western Travel and the History and Genealogy of Tennessee and Other Southern States

This 1921 catalog is a portal into one of the most remarkable private collections of Southern American history ever assembled. Calvin Morgan McClung spent decades tracking down rare books, pamphlets, manuscripts, maps, and pictures documenting the early western frontier and the genealogy of Tennessee and its neighboring states. The result is a meticulous alphabetical guide to materials that were already becoming scarce a century ago - primary sources chronicling the settlement of a region, the lives of its pioneers, and the families who built it. What makes this volume compelling isn't just what it lists, but what it represents: the feverish collecting instincts of a man who understood that these documents were irreplaceable. For genealogists, historians of the American South, and anyone researching frontier history, this catalog functions as both a historical artifact and a practical key to understanding what sources once existed - and where they might now be found.
