Bygone Scotland: Historical and Social

Bygone Scotland: Historical and Social, written by David Maxwell and first published in 1894, provides a thematic exploration of Scotland's history from its ancient tribal origins to its emergence as a more autonomous nation. The book examines significant events such as the Roman occupation and conflicts with England, while also focusing on the evolution of Scottish society and culture. Maxwell's work is notable for its non-chronological approach, offering insights into the interplay of Scottish and English histories and the figures that shaped Scotland's identity.
