Black Tales for White Children

Black Tales for White Children
Published in the early 20th century, 'Black Tales for White Children' is a collection of 29 East African folktales compiled by Chauncey Hugh Stigand and his wife, Nancy Stigand. The stories are translated from Swahili and were gathered from local storytellers during Stigand's service as a British Army officer and colonial official in East Africa. This work highlights the rich oral traditions of the region, providing insight into the culture and beliefs of East African communities.
