Billy Whiskers at the Circus

Billy Whiskers is a goat with wanderlust. Living comfortably at Cloverleaf Farm, he hears rumors of a traveling circus arriving in town, and his adventurous spirit cannot be contained. Against the warnings of wiser animals, Billy escapes his peaceful life to discover the excitement he craves. What follows is a series of charming escapades as the mischievous goat navigates the strange, dazzling world of the circus, encountering performers, animals, and the chaos of life on the road. First published in the early 1900s, this book captures a vanished era when circuses were miraculous wonders and a goat's journey to find something more could fill a child's imagination with delight. Frances Trego Montgomery writes with gentle humor and warmth, creating a protagonist whose curiosity and stubborn courage feel refreshingly modern despite the vintage setting. Billy Whiskers is no perfect hero; he's prone to getting into pickles he must then cleverly escape. This is a story about the thrill of adventure, the value of friendship, and learning that home is always there waiting. Perfect for young readers who love animal adventures and stories about daring to see what's beyond the fence.
