Bible (Reina Valera) NT 13-14: 1, 2 Tesalonicenses
Two letters from the apostle Paul to a young Christian community in the Roman city of Thessalonica. The first letter overflows with gratitude for a church that, despite facing persecution from their own neighbors, had become a model of faith, hope, and love throughout Macedonia. Paul writes as a spiritual father, both celebrating their steadfastness and urging them toward deeper community: work with your hands, love one another, rejoice always, pray without ceasing. The second letter arrives with a harder edge, correcting misunderstandings about the Day of the Lord and addressing idleness among some believers. Both letters center on the same radiant hope: that Christ will return, that the dead in Christ will rise, and that suffering will give way to glory. These are not abstract theological treatises but urgent, intimate letters from a pastor to his people, written in a world that expected the end to come at any moment.
