Bible (Reina Valera) 05: Deuteronomio
Moses stands on the plains of Moab, addressing a new generation of Israelites poised to enter the Promised Land. This is his farewell address, a final impassioned plea before his death. Deuteronomy recaps the journey from Egypt, revisits the Law given at Sinai, and looks forward to the conquest ahead. It's a book of remembered faithfulness and remembered failures, of the golden calf and forty years of wilderness wandering, of a generation that died for their disbelief. Moses implores the people to remember who they are and whose they are, to love the one true God with all their heart, soul, and strength. The book presents two paths: blessing for obedience, curse for disobedience. It closes with Joshua appointed as successor and Moses climbing Mount Nebo to see the Promised Land he will never enter. These are some of the most human and most haunting chapters in all of scripture.
