Assyrian Historiography: A Source Study

Assyrian Historiography: A Source Study, written by A. T. Olmstead and first published in 1916, examines the sources and methodologies of historical writing in ancient Assyria. The book discusses the evolution of Assyrian historical inscriptions, their accuracy, and their implications for understanding Assyrian history, particularly during the reigns of early kings like Tiglath Pileser I. Olmstead highlights the transition from Babylonian influences to structured annalistic forms, making this work a significant contribution to the study of Assyrian historiography and its sources.
