An Island Hell: A Soviet Prison in the Far North

An Island Hell: A Soviet Prison in the Far North, written by S. A. Mal'sagov in the early 20th century, provides a harrowing account of life in the notorious Solovetsky Islands prison. Drawing from his own experiences as a political prisoner, Mal'sagov details the brutality and inhumane conditions imposed by the Tcheka, the Soviet secret police, during and after the Russian Revolution. This narrative not only sheds light on the oppressive Soviet penal system but also serves as a personal testimony to the suffering endured by political prisoners in this dark chapter of history.
