American Egypt

Published in the early 20th century, 'American Egypt' by Channing Arnold is a pioneering work by English archaeologists who explored the Yucatan Peninsula. It is notable for being the first book written by Englishmen on this region, which they referred to as 'the Egypt of the New World.' Arnold and his co-author, Frost, proposed a controversial theory that America's first architects were Buddhist immigrants from Java and Indo-China, challenging prevailing views of their time. Their explorations included uncivilized areas of the northeastern Peninsula and the eastern coast islands.
