Address to the People of the United States, Together with the Proceedings and Resolutions of the Pro-Slavery Convention of Missouri, Held at Lexington, July 1855
''Address to the People of the United States, Together with the Proceedings and Resolutions of the Pro-Slavery Convention of Missouri, Held at Lexington, July 1855'' is a historical document reflecting pro-slavery sentiments during a critical period in American history. Authored by various Missouri citizens, it addresses the political tensions surrounding Kansas's admission as a state amid rising abolitionist movements. The text argues for popular sovereignty regarding slavery in new territories and outlines the perceived threats to Missouri's slave-dependent economy. This publication highlights the deep divisions in the United States leading up to the Civil War.
