A Monograph of Odontoglossum

A Monograph of Odontoglossum, written by Jas. Bateman and first published in 1864, is a detailed scientific work focusing on the orchid genus Odontoglossum. It explores the ecological significance, cultivation challenges, and various species of these exotic orchids, reflecting the growing interest in orchids during the mid-19th century. Bateman discusses the efforts of collectors to obtain live specimens from regions like New Grenada and Peru, highlighting both the beauty and the challenges of cultivating these plants.
