A Medley of Weather Lore

Before satellites and forecasts, people read the sky. They watched how birds flew, how clouds gathered, what the moon whispered through the night. This collection gathers those ancient conversations between humans and weather, preserving the folk sayings, proverbs, and verses that once helped farmers plant and communities prepare for what lay ahead. The medley moves through the calendar year, offering month-by-month weather wisdom paired with poetry that celebrates nature's rhythms. January's cold and February's uncertain transition give way to predictions for spring planting and summer storms. Here is practical knowledge wrapped in metaphor: rain when the ants march, clear skies when the robin sings. For readers who linger over old almanacs, who find poetry in a well-turned proverb, or who want to slow down and notice what the sky is saying, this little collection offers quiet pleasure. It's the kind of book to keep near a window on a winter morning, when the weather outside feels worthy of attention.
