A Forgotten Prince of Wales

He was born in Hanover in 1707, heir to the British throne, and yet his own father despised him from the first moment. This is the forgotten story of Frederick, Prince of Wales, a man who spent his entire life waiting for a crown that would never fit his head, surrounded by political machinations and familial cruelty that would have ruined a lesser man. Henry Curties reconstructs the secrecy surrounding Frederick's birth, the bitter tensions between his parents, and the lonely childhood that shaped a prince destined never to reign. The narrative follows Frederick through the intricate world of the Hanoverian court, where every gesture of affection was suspect and every political alliance was a potential trap. What emerges is not merely a historical account but a meditation on the cost of being heir: the expectations that crush, the waiting that festers, and the peculiar loneliness of being next in line to a throne you may never occupy. Curties writes with early 20th-century sensibility, favoring psychological depth over mere chronology, making this a compelling read for anyone fascinated by the human drama behind royal succession.
