A Book of Cheerful Cats and Other Animated Animals

Late Victorian whimsy lives on in this enchanting collection of poetry and illustrated tales about cats and their animal friends. Originally published in the 1890s, the book bursts with approximately 60 charming illustrations depicting cats who drink tea, attend concerts, and reform their wild ways. The centerpiece is "Three Little Kittens" - that beloved English nursery rhyme about kittens who lose their mittens and must earn back their mother's love through proper behavior. Other highlights include a tea party where kittens demonstrate famously bad manners, a musical evening featuring a giraffe and his eclectic animal orchestra, and a fearsome lion who trades his roar for peace. The stories pulse with gentle humor and quiet lessons about kindness, forgiveness, and the bonds of family. Parents and children will recognize the timeless negotiation between childhood mischief and parental love. This is comfort reading in its purest form - warm, silly, and entirely devoid of darkness. Perfect for reading aloud at bedtime or sharing on a rainy afternoon.
